Resolutions of the 2nd Inter-agency Coordination Meeting for Chemical Management and Implementation Plan of GHS

The 2nd Inter-agency Coordination Meeting for Chemical Management and Implementation Plan of GHS was held on November 19th in Council of Labors Affairs (CLA). The meeting resolved the issue discussed in the 1st inter-agency coordination meeting early this February, on the harmonization of implementation date among competent authorities of GHS as followings: 1.Substances which are regulated in current regulations by Environment Protection Agency (EPA), National Fire Agency (NFA) and CLA should be implemented in the first batches of substances adopting GHS. 2.The first batches of substances should be announced before 31 December 2007 by EPA, NFA and CLA, respectively. With one year transitional period afterwards, the implementation date of these first batches should be set on 31st December 2008. 3.The Council of Agriculture (COA) responsible for plant protection agent labelling and Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) responsible for consumer chemical labelling should assess their implementation date in line with international GHS harmonization, respectively.
